Money
Hungary's currency is the forint (HUF) and the paper money comes in 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000 and 20000 HUF denominations

Exchange rates (mid-market prices from xe.com, dated Feb 6th, 2008) for a basket of currencies
1,000 CNY (China) = 25,133 HUF
100 Dollar (US)= 18,059 HUF
100 Euro = 26,406 HUF
100 GB Pound = 35,399 HUF
10,000 India Rupee = 45,944 HUF
10,000 Japanese Yen = 16,979 HUF
1,000 Swedish Kronor = 28,042 HUF
100 Swiss Fr = 16,463 HUF

Changing money
The hotel has money changing facilities (during the day) and cash machines in Budapest and at the airport may be used to 'get' forints from your bank account at home (depending on your native bank and it's services)

How much money will I need to get to the hotel
The taxi from the airport will need cash (around 15-20,000 forints, depending on the taxi company (more below)).

How much money will I need to get to the ChemAxon office (arriving directly at the Garden Party)
The taxi from the airport will need cash (around 6,000 forints, depending on the taxi company (more below)).

Costs of things - HUF
Three-course menu in a middle-category restaurant 2,000-5,000
1 liter milk 170
1 kg bread 130
1 liter wine in shops 500-3,000
1 bottle of beer in shops 200-350
1 kg apples 300
1 hamburger in fast food restaurant 400-700
1 night in a Youth Hostel 4,000-7,000
1 liter petrol (Euro 95) 275
1 music CD 4,000-5,000
1 cinema ticket 700-1,200

Getting from the airport

There will be a booth immediately outside the arrivals lounge - it will be called "Zona Taxi" - you should let them know where you are going and they will provide a car. If you are coming straight to the office (for the Garden Party) see this map and details.

How long to get to the hotel from the airport
It will take about an hour to 2 hours to get to the hotel depending on when in the day you arrive. During the day traffic may be heavy.

How long to get to the ChemAxon office from the airport
It will take about 30 minutes to one hour to get to the ChemAxon office from the airport. During the day traffic may be heavy.

Meeting event transport
All transportation for the ChemAxon office garden party and meeting banquet will be provided. Pick-up will marshall at the event hotel foyer and drop-off will return to the hotel.

Weather
In May we expect fair to hot weather with temperatures of 15-30°C, rain is possible as are cold spells. Clothing - in addition to your swim wear - which will be useful for the spa visits, you should bring a jacket and umbrella. I will be hoping that the weather will support shorts and tshirts.

Getting online
Wireless internet connection will be available throughout the event using a standard wireless LAN card (IEEE 802.1 1b,g). See the hotel reception for more information.

Contact information
General telephone information
Outside of Hungary you will call '+36' to get to Hungary ('+' indicates your country international access code, ie '00' or '011'), '1' denotes Budapest and landlines will usually be a 7 figure number, so the Gellert hotel main number would be '+36 1 889 5500'
Within Hungary - but outside Budapest (such as the airport) - you will call '06' for a national call '1' for Budapest and them the 7 figure number, so again the Gellert hotel would be '06 1 889 5500'
Within Budapest you will call only the 7 figure number '889 5500'
Hungarian mobile telephone numbers should be dialled completely, so Nora Lapusnyik's mobile number would be '06 70 229 9080' if called from any Hungarian land line. If calling from a foreign mobile telephone you should include the international dialing code for Hungary, so the number would be '+36 70 229 9080'.

Thermal Hotel Visegrád -
from within Visegrad 801-900,
from anywhere in Hungary 06-26-801-900
