Start SharePoint 2010 Services
Back to index pageThe JChem For SharePoint Search application configuration is almost ready. JChem For SharePoint Search deploys services on the current SharePoint instance. These services are not started by default.
To check these services navigate to SharePoint "Central Administration / System Settings / Services on Server".
Look for:

JChem Search Service
This service is responsible for connecting the clients to the JChem Search Service application, where the chemical search takes place.
JChem Indexing Service
Performs chemical indexing on SharePoint content. This service checks the existence of JChem Indexing Service (windows service). Then it sets the windows service's logon user and starts the windows service.
JChem Indexing Connector Service
The service is responsible to register the custom molecule formats which are extensions to the default ones which SharePoint offers. Starting this service will install the extra molecule formats in SharePoint 2010. Stopping this service will unregister them.
Although, the service instances could be started at the SharePoint's Central Administration. There is an easier way to start them all together.
Open a command prompt with administrator rights and run the following command:
jcsadm.exe -o startservices
Please be patient, the process can take a while. If the command completed successfully, the result should be:

You can check the SharePoint "Central Administration / System Settings / Services on Server". The service instances are running.

Check "Start Menü / Administrative Tools / Services". The JChem Indexing Service is already running and the logon user is set.
