Marvin
Marvin is a collection of Java tools for drawing, displaying and characterizing chemical structures, substructures and reactions.
As a Java technology Marvin can be easily installed on your desktop and through our Application Programming Interface (API), seamlessly integrated into web pages and third party applications.
The Marvin package is separated according to functionality and includes:
- MarvinSketch: a GUI for drawing structures, queries and reactions.
- MarvinView: a GUI for viewing structure files, query results and reactions.
- MarvinSpace: a GUI for 3D molecule visualization.
- MolConverter: a command line tool for converting various file types.
Marvin for your desktop is free
Like Instant JChem Personal, you are free to download and install Marvin Beans on your desktop. Marvin Beans include all Marvin and MolConverter functionalities as well as try out versions of all of our Calculator Plugins (1 call per calculation per session).
Applets or Beans?
Marvin comes in 2 flavours depending on how you want to use it.
- Marvin Applets for the web developer
- Marvin Beans for the chemist's desktop and for the software developer.
Marvin Applets are tools for building chemical web pages, which are compatible with most browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc.) They offer access from/to JavaScript and are customizable by applet parameters.
Marvin Beans are easily installing applications for the desktop and tools for integrating Marvin capabilities into any Java application.
