Networking opportunities at the UGM

Plenty of opportunities for networking

Speaking to peers and colleagues in addition to the lunches and breaks we have organized social programs to keep the ideas flowing.

Sunday: Informal gathering in the hotel's bar
Monday: 1-2-1 sessions and garden party at the ChemAxon offices
Tuesday: Based on the great success of our 2011 event, we return our Gala Dinner to the Széchenyi Bath House - so please bring your swimming trunks
Wednesday: Informal chat and nibbles if you are still in town - details to be communicated

Developer workshop

Monday May 27th, the UGM will be preceded by a dedicated Training day with two parallel tracks: for developers and for end users. The main goal of our technical training is to introduce the new product features and give answers to the questions of how ChemAxon tools can be best integrated in various cheminformatics applications.

Application focus training

Monday May 27th, the UGM will be preceded by a dedicated Training day with two parallel tracks: for developers and for end users. The aim of our Application focus training is to give end users and those new to ChemAxon a handle on basic ChemAxon functionality and how you can interact with it.

More about the application focus training

One to one session

Right after the trainings, preceding our Garden Party at the office we have a 1-2-1 session where our users can meet with ChemAxon staff to discuss scientific, technical or business issues. Each major product group will have a discussion area where ChemAxon experts will be on call.

For more details on the topics of the 1-2-1 session please check back later.

ChemAxon Partner participation

ChemAxon technology isn't just available from ChemAxon. On Tuesday May 28th we hold a Partners' lightning round session highlighting how our technologies compliment the products and services of our Partners.

Partners' table-top exhibition: Throughout Tuesday and Wednesday, partners will be available at exhibition sessions where attendees can meet and find out more about partner products and services.

For more details on partners' participation please contact Nóra Lapusnyik.

Developer workshop

May 27th, between 8:50 - 16:30 in the event hotel. Runs concurrently with the Application Focus training day track.

Based on user feedback we are tuning the developer workshop program to focus on overview of functionality and architecture, building and integrating systems, and of course we will showcase hundreds of code examples.

We are extending the program with several new chapters:

  • the introduction and usage of Marvin for JavaScript
  • the introduction and usage of JChem Web Services’ new REST API
  • the introduction and high level overview of ChemAxon’s .NET API

This more relaxed and more focused training should help past and new attendees get started with ChemAxon’s developer toolkits, while gaining a deeper understanding on how to integrate cheminformatics systems.

Application focus training

May 27th, approximately 8:50 - 16:40 in the event hotel. Runs concurrently with Developer Workshop Day track

The Application Focus Training is a full day program designed mainly for end users (chemists and biologists as well), who are either new to ChemAxon and want to get a handle on basic functionalities, or are more experienced users, who simply want to learn more about our tools through solving realistic problems.

We will cover several case studies for different work environments such as big pharma, small biotech, startups or working with CRO’s and learn how to manage data, design and analyze virtual compound libraries or use Markush technology for patent applications. We will be using ChemAxon’s technology distributed among our desktop applications, such as Marvin, Instant JChem, JChem for Excel, as well as KNIME. Realistic workflows from various research areas will be discussed in 1.5-2 hours “hands-on” sessions where attendees in small groups will work together with an application scientist to solve pre-defined problems. At the end of the sessions we will discuss use cases of the users themselves. Take your tailroed questions with you.

For the registered training session attendees ChemAxon will provide laptops with pre-installed software and example files. We advise to register and reserve the pre-installed laptops early; for those registering on the week before the training we cannot guarantee access to pre-installed laptops. For the attendees who prefer to use their own machines we will help with setting up evaluation software and relevant files starting at 8:00 AM. The training session will start at 8:50 AM.
